IMHO, in the post-App-store world:

- centralized parties don't block you from using an app

- your identities are not tied to any apps, no KYC is centrally enforced

- apps don't use data lock-in to retain you

- apps don't violate your privacy and resell your data

- value between market participants flows directly without middlemen

- apps don't have to re-implement a social layer and instead just use nostr

- data layer is interoperable with loose standards driven by code, not central planners

- apps are audited by free market, not centralized parties

- apps are discovered organically in place, not through ads or app store search box

- web of trust is more important than centralized trust metrics, both for apps and for content

- moderation and spam protection are free markets that handle local cultural etc differences properly, not a centralized all-size-fits-all enforcer

- advertisement consumption is voluntary

- creators/devs are compensated properly with splits directly by users

- open-source wins and the number of apps explodes due to no-code AI driven tools

- winning apps are built by tiny loose teams, not rich corporations

Hopefully this and much more.

Yes, and, surely there must be tradeoffs...
