After more than 3 decades of dedication, 81-year-old Queensland gardener, Lorna Spackman has created a new variety of Avocado.
The new "Jala" variety has massive fruit, a firm buttery flesh and is resistant to oxidation after being cut.
The avocados from grafted Jala trees average between 1-1.2 kilograms. For context, an average Hass avocado weighs around 250 grams.
The first release has already landed in Australian fruit stores.
