🇬🇧 Spanish police arrest three Britons for kidnapping a crypto trader in Marbella.

The victim had accepted an invitation to an apartment in the nearby resort town of Estepona, where the kidnappers ambushed him.

The three criminals demanded a £25,000 ransom in crypto.

The victim pretended to call someone who had the second part of his crypto seed phrase. However, while talking, he discreetly informed his friend that he was being held against his will.

The police were alerted and quickly located the apartment where he was being held.

As officers were preparing to raid the apartment, the kidnapped man took advantage of a moment of inattention from his captors to escape.

He jumped from a balcony, breaking his ankles in the fall…

"During the police operation to locate the apartment, officers saw several nervous men going in and out of the property onto an outdoor terrace. Moments later, they saw another man, who turned out to be the kidnapping victim, jumping from the terrace to the ground. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries."

The police shared footage of the raid, showing the perpetrators attempting to flee in an Audi.

"Two firearms hidden in kitchen cabinets, nearly €10,000, a money-counting machine, three knives—including a butterfly knife—two designer watches, and 25 grams of pink cocaine, along with a scale, were found during a search of the apartment."

The criminals were all remanded in custody after appearing in court.

25K for that kind of risk? And split between several? These guys aren't very bright, eh.

Or they're just poor, worthless, scumbags to whom 25,000£ is a lot of money.

We're a lot richer than the average low life...

But this is Europe. They can't pay for subsistence living with that very long. And I'm sure subsistence was not the goal.

Split three ways it's 4 months minimum wage for, say, two weeks of work. That's pretty attractive for someone who thinks they can figure out a way to do it more times.

That's probably why the ransom was set so low: pick a number where it's easier to just pay that resist. Unfortunately for them, the victim chose to resist. A lot of people wouldn't be brave enough to do that.

It'd be good to give the victim a reward for their bravery and execute all three assailants.
