I was a fan of the show Mr. Robot. Spoiler alert, when the economy collapsed, the giant fictitious evil corporation in the show used the opportunity to introduce their own digital currency that they created to replace the failing dollar and was ultimately controlled by the corporation. Fortunately this was just a tv show and nothing like that would ever happen in real life.
