Latest "map software" update for the Kona EV includes #geofencing and #geotiming capabilities. This is only disclosed deep into the T&C for the software upgrade; even the dealer was apparently unaware.
So now, for this car and probably many others with pushbutton start, navigation capabilities, and a remote assistance system, there is proof of intent to be able to shut the car off of it leaves a certain area or is operated in a specified time window.
The T&C specifically says it won't be used without consent *OR* except in accordance with the law, which makes the consent clause moot. The presenter is in the UK aka "Airstrip One", but there's no reason to think that other versions/countries won't also be implementing this, or haven't already.
If your car has those three features e.g. pushbutton start, navigation, and remote assistance, go dig through the terms and conditions for the car. It'll be somewhere deep in the menu for the car's settings. You'll have to read many pages of legalese, but this is important.
