I'd choose Python. Wider support, tons of libraries, I use it for data science quite a bit. The code is approachable or people who don't code and it's had to find a problem you can't solve with python, though if speed is a concern you'd probably want something else.

Python. Super easy to learn, there's a library for just about anything, it's got a big community so easy to find resources and troubleshooting, and it's widely used and supposed by default on Linux etc.

I prefer pythons syntax and feel it has a broader application where ruby, to me, is just web
