Searched for something on YouTube today and came upon a series of clips each with 1-5k views, all just compilations of images narrated by one of those ai podcast apps.

I could tell instantly something was off. Took about 5 seconds to realize most of the videos for my query were AI narrated.

Weird and uncomfortable. Not excited about this kind of thing. I hope there is some switch to turn off AI generated content in search. With Sora and the likes, it’s only going to get much worse. At least Sora watermarks content which is good, though that can be cropped out. I’d hope YouTube would have some method of tagging generated content to be toggled off in results but I doubt they’ll do this.

our taste will get blander and blander i suppose

I hope not

I've used AI to re- create the voices of great writers (using their real recorded voices as training material), so that I could create audio books of works they'd written. I had to do a lot of re-runs and editing to make it sound decent.

I think that's a good use of the technology.

But this all-AI-generated content, deployed by people who are no more than money-seekers, is just garbage. Full of mistakes. But worst of all, it's mostly just full of whatever the "conventional view" is of whatever topic is being discussed. Less than worthless and a waste of time. Leads us downward in every way.
