Called "Shot-Spotter," the technology is primarily sound-based and has become sophisticated enough that using sensors set up around a two-square-mile area in both boroughs allow for the "triangulation," not only of the location, within feet, but even the caliber of the weapon, Steele said.
I was just out back with my girls playing w sparklers. Found some old bottle rockets and lit them off too. Nothing out of the ordinary. What ever. Been doing it for years
2 min later 3 cops show up in my ally shining flashlights at my girls. Like what the fuck?
They said the system picked up 3 gun shots from my back yard. I told them that's creepy shit. Noone called or anything.
I just looked up the system. It says it can tell what caliber the gun is and is supposed to tell the difference between fireworks, backfires and gunshota. They know it wasn't gun play

Wife was not happy about this. She is laying into them. They don't know shit about their own system or how to properly implement the data they get from it.
They told us that the system reported it as gun shots.
They then listened to the recording and determined it WAS NOT gun fire, but fire works.
For some reason they still proceeded to come to my property and harass me. None of my neighbors called or complained. We waiting for a call back from higher up. They need to talk with the patrol and see why they respond when it determined that it WAS NOT gun fire before they came.
