Half the time I look for anything is wasted on filtering through garbage results. Or like 80%. LLM has improved that somewhat, but there’s still so much junk out there, that you can land on an OK result and get sucked into a bunch of fiat shrinkflated high time preference crap.

Applies to pretty much everything: products, services, addons, travel. You name it, it’s full of garbage 🗑️

Cantankerous garbage.

Too low IQ for this word, ser

😂

One person's trash is another person's treasure.

There are hundreds of flashlights that falsely advertise their brightness (lumens) on Amazon. These are not treasure, they are simply scams. Real brands carry the consequences of poor product manufacturing but fake overnight brands with fake reviews do a lot of damage without the consequences. I’m only referring to Amazon but this really applies to any search platform including Google. If a search doesn’t yield results, they deliver the next best thing which in many cases doesn’t meet your criteria and you end up wasting more time figuring out that they don’t meet your standards or requirements. This is poor user experience.

ChatGPT will actually say I can’t find any results that match your criteria. At least this is an improvement. Amazon will do no such thing. It’s deceptive at best, scammy at worst.

Literally has changed our brains to optimize for bullshit detection. It’s part of the reason why many young people have never experienced what it means to ‘be lost in a book’ or even long form articles even.
