Use a still, a big one, if necessary. Very low tech. Very effective. You can scale the tech to as large as you need, and if you're smart, you can use the heat to do a bunch of other stuff, too,since boiling water takes a lot of energy. (heck, you could hook up a small turbine and generate some electricity while creating drinkable water.)

Nice idea, love low tech 🙏 Yes, I thought about the distilling method, too. Got stuck with the thought of the original power input though: Carry the seawater, create a safe heat source (no open fires in the summer), and a lot of diy tinkering 😉 The turbine could reclaim some of the power. But I think at this point it'd be max worth the effort for producing drinking water not everyday use water.

You could easily make a rocket stove to set the still pot onto. No open fire, very efficient burn, easy enough to light and maintain.

Had my eye on rocket stoves anyway. Let's see what's possible 😉
