My new hobby is reading about quantum mechanics and attempting to understand it. The vast range of possible implications of all these insane unknowns about the very functioning of our entire universe is insane.

The fact atoms and molecules exist in superpositions that change when observed and we can only theorise about exactly why.

The fact many of these discoveries look almost like software bugs.

The fact this allows for the possibility (albeit currently unfalsifiable) that both the multiverse theory and simulation theory are true.

Shit actually blows my mind man and I'm not even stoned.

Can you recommend me a book about that, i like to read a lot, and its an area of interest of mine too 🖤

I can't unfortunately, I've been learning by using LLMs, they're really fuckin good at this type of thing, learning new knowledge. Just remember to tell it to show you sources so you can verify what it tells you is correct. GPT-4 is usually very good these days though :)

I never used GPT-4, are you using GPT-4 from openai, or with a key in GPT4All?

OpenAI, although I also have access to Azure deployments of the same models.

Google Gemini is also worth a look. It's not very good at more complex tasks yet but it is good at summarizing info and linking sources.

Do you not have privacy concerns about OpenAI?

Glad to hear you're having a blast with QM, but be careful when learning things from an LLM, they make all kinds of mistakes. I'd just get a textbook instead

man i ran into 'wigners friend' recently and its mind blowinghttps://youtu.be/5AodzEpvzZw
