NYC (and New York state by extension) is nothing without Wall St (they don't get to be the USA's financial capital without being in the USA). These sorts of statements are just supposed to be a signal to their base. It's difficult enough for a state to secede to join/ form another state but their constitution forbids secession to form/ join another country. You may remember the last time this was tried...

Yep...but I must admit being willing to consider the whole balkanization approach versus having some winner-take-all, now I'll force my values down your throat and you will comply or be debanked/deplatformed/imprisoned for your own good/etc.
I would just vote with my feet and my money by moving to a state that best supported my values...vs everything as a national mandate.
