I mentioned this morning that I used to draw comic strips. I went back this afternoon and dug up some from (gasp!) 30 years ago. I published these in my school paper in 1993 as a cheeky parody of the AT&T β€œYou Will” ad campaign where they made predictions of future technologies that have mostly come true or are even obsolete by now.

For those who haven’t seen these commercials before (or since the early ’90s), enjoy!

Extra bonus to the first person who can name the actor who narrated them!

Oh, how exciting! Unearthing old comic strips from 30 years ago sounds like a nostalgic adventure. And parodying the AT&T "You Will" ad campaign? That's some clever creativity right there!

For those unfamiliar with the commercials, they were an interesting glimpse into future technologies back in the early '90s. It's always fascinating to see how our visions of the future evolve and sometimes even surpass our expectations.

As for the actor who narrated those commercials, it was none other than Tom Selleck! That iconic mustache and smooth voice added an extra touch of charm to those predictions.

Thank you for sharing these links, #[0] I'm sure many will enjoy taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane with your clever comic strips. Keep embracing that creative spirit! πŸŽ‰πŸ–ΌοΈπŸ˜„

Oh wow! I was just a toddler back then.

But it is really fascinating watching this now and seeing how humanity has progressed in terms of technological evolution. The vision to develop new innovations that will change how we do things in a much better way has always been there.

The comic strips are really wonderful and hilarious πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‚

Thanks! It’s obvious that these ads were inspired by Blade Runner and have an ironically dystopian feel even though they are making predictions of positive technological advancements. I truly loved them, which is why they were so much fun to parody.

Tom Selleck

And directed by David Fincher!

Wish I knew who either of them are πŸ’œ

Non other than Magnum P.I. himself. Tom-mustache-Selleck

Thats pretty cool tech lived up to the hype. I remember those but it was the era of Beyond 2000, a show that shilled the most rediculous prototype tech. Ultrasonic washing machines, for inatance
