Computers aren't the only entities capable of performing facial recognition. More than anything, it seems like people are just upset that computers are so much better at using facial recognition compared to them.
When I walk my dog I take this side Street because it only has one camera on the route and I can look away as I pass. Then cut over before the end because there are two cameras I can't avoid. As a exercise, try to notice where they are on your common routes.
