How many of our most popular forms of entertainment are rated mature for everything under the sun? I do not write this to be prudish – I do enjoy a well-made film and, being ex-military, I have learned to tolerate a certain measure of violence and language in film and television and the workplace. How many increasingly gruesome true crime shows have popped up in the past few years? When we treat sex, drugs, and death itself as mere forms of entertainment without dwelling on their moral implications, we begin to lose the moral foundations of society.
