NIP-05 is not a verification.

Is it explicitly a formal identity verification? No. It verifies that you are either the owner or affiliated with a registered domain.
Can it be used for identity verification? Absolutely. No one else is verified with EvanPrim.com but me, so it’s a pretty safe bet that my account is verified as owned by me.
As for third party services like nostrplebs.com, any and all verification processes are still evolving, as it’s a service that as only existed for a few weeks.
You just said with much better words what I wanted to say. 🫂😊
I'm worried that people could think that having a NIP-05 "badge" or "check" means that the user is verified automatically.
And it doesn't mean that. Having a NIP-05 alias doesn't imply being verified.
That's all.
