Why Douglas?
Look up the WWII US dive bomber “Douglas Dauntless”. They pretty much won the naval of the Pacific. They sank more tons of Japanese vessels than any other weapon

The pilots would dive on ships at an almost vertical angle and they said it was like staring straight into hell as all of the warship’s anti aircraft guns would be trained them with glowing white hot tracer rounds firing straight up at them.
I seen a good film about it called “midway”. But didnt realise they were called Douglas Dauntless.
