I've been there when I spent some time in the Las Palmas shipyard. There are some beautiful spots, one bar near that square makes a really good Black Paella (the local way) and serves a great selection of beers. There is also one street in the city (Taxi drive away) where on Thursday evenings all the bars in the street give away free snacks and sell really cheap mojitos and sangria. Start at one end of the street and you'll be equally stuffed and wasted by the time you get to the other end. Highly recommend.
