I think you think I am being sarcastic. Paying for illegal drugs funds criminals. If we in the US send more money to cartels than to other central American enterprises, then we shouldn't be surprised when they have all the power.

Just let adult human beeings decide for themselves, or why do we call them adults?
Prohibition is something you can't half ass, otherwise you get the wrost of both worlds; a price support for organized crime and police + political corruption that goes straight to the highest levels of govt.
It's also incompatible with things like the American Bill of Right.
A society must go fully authoritarian on drugs or shouldn't attempt prohibition at all.
