at university we had fast inet connection ... so in the morning we put 1000 songs in download ... after lectures were finished, we took the songs and went home with em ... i miss those times, napster widened my musical horizont in a way. i thought it's impossible ... and thanks ti proxies, university could block as many orts as they wanted 😏😂🤘🏻

It's an underappreciated irony that, without that movement, the music industry during those years would have been retarded (in the literal sense) to a large extent, if not financially, then at least essentially.
A typical person doesn't have time to discover the potentially hundreds of bands they like. FM is too low bandwidth, and discs aren't exactly scalable either. The industry wasn't champing at the bit to go innovate ways to serve that eager audience, so...tl;dr it was their loss 🤷♂️😉
