There was a historic mill building I knew of that suffered that fate. Developers literally showed up on a weekend night with equipment and knocked it down. There was outrage and fines, but compared to the value of the land in the market it was nothing to pay. Cronies picked up the development reins six months later and built away. Regrettably I hauled the equipment there while I worked for a Billionaire developer. 😞

man that’s so fucking sad. i hate that there’s this constant disregard for american historical buildings. it’s been awful seeing st. louis buildings that developers don’t want to pay to rehab, just randomly burn down right after they purchase it. no one does anything about it
