I keep hearing people say the spammers stopped. I don’t have a perfect network view but I’m not buying it. I think you’re mostly just seeing the affects of Damus relay implementing repetitive spam filtering. That was certainly the highest volume of spam remaining.

From my POV, these nossence bots are probably the most absurd spam left on nostr atm.

Remember, for spammers to keep up an attack it costs them exponentially more in a p2p model. Cause they have to trick themselves once, you twice, and your buddy 4 times, etc.

True, but credentials are unlimited on nostr so that is certainly an advantage over the centralized model.

Not to toot my own horn but I just spotted a guy like that tonight. I think you can check my profile history if you don't believe me. It is easier to spot those folks than it seems. I have a protocol I follow.

What makes spammers focus on Damus, and not switch to other popular relays?

They aren’t focused, Damus was just one of the last (very) popular relays to implement spam filtering. As it is one of the biggest individual relays, many smaller relays aggregate from it which causes the echo effect.
