You are not a complete idiot. This stuff is so early it’s not even recommended to use amounts you aren’t willing to lose.
You can get your own cashu.me wallet by visiting https://cashu.me that will bring you to a wallet. The bottom portion of that wallet will let you send and receive lightning. The top portion will allow you to send and receive eCash.
If you get an eCash wallet I can walk you through the steps and send you some eCash.
