According to Vance, the goal is to assess the situation there in terms of security, but the real objective is to pave the way for the presentation of an American proposal to acquire Greenland—an intention frequently reiterated by Trump.

Greenland’s Prime Minister stated that the visit by the American delegation is “highly aggressive,” with 85% of locals not wanting to become part of the U.S., according to a poll conducted in January of this year.
