There’s a lot that goes into that as far as what you want to get out of it.
Current gen machines are around $2k right now at the cheapest (like S19j Pros), but they aren’t great for home mining, especially if you’re just getting started.
I would spend about $200ish on an S9 just to get started and tinker around with it and learn about it before seeing if you want to make the leap to get a large scale home miner (would take a lot more cost as far as electricity and infrastructure goes) or if you want to host one somewhere, or maybe you want to just grab a few more S9s after you learn about them and plug them in at home to heat your house or to make a small home operation.
Anything after the S9 is where it starts getting farther away from and harder to mine at home. S9s are great plug and play miners and very cheap right now.
