Into The Wild Is A Great Book.

Did he name himself after the W H Davies book?

Yes, it is my understanding that Chris picked the name Alexander from Tzar Alexander in "War and Peace" and Supertramp from Davies' autobiography—both books were his favorites. It is also fitting given the fact that a nomad travelling on foot is known as a leather tramp, and one on wheels, a rubber tramp.

Interesting combination! :)
