Reputation matters far more on Nostr than on other networks.

Here’s why:

• Your notes are immutable

• Anyone can respond to them

(even if you “blocked” them)

• No shadow banning possible

• Zaps are costly to fake

Sure, you could try to scam people and then spin up a new nPub, but that equates to starting your Nostr over from scratch, which takes time and energy to re-build.

In sum, Nostr is a pleb-to-pleb trust network. It takes years to build up this trust, and mere seconds to demolish it.

Another key factor: No algorithmic feed on Nostr (at least as of today). That means you only see the notes from those you follow. There are no suggested notes or suggested accounts. For this reason, follows and unfollows carry far more weight on Nostr than on other social networks

I would say that the point carrying the most weight is that no content can be pushed artificially by an algorithm. If an algo shows you one post again and again and again, people tend to engage with it.

On nostr, if it’s not good enough to get shared over and over again, it will naturally slide in the background.
