I’m excited that more work is going in to soapbox. I’ve found the mostr gateway to be very helpful and I follow a ton of fediverse folks in nostr via it.
There’s a bunch of UX which needs to be improved, so folks see a profile that makes more sense and a username that works on the fediverse side of things.
I also am wondering how to handle the gateway which makes sense in terms of the fediverse model of content moderation. Lots of fediverse servers block instances that nostr:npub15ph30la3n069s4l9ja9v3wcmaftcrztcdm4ytrjy800cc02n80fsqvkw0q has been connected to, and vice versa. At the moment the gateway is open both direction, not blocking nostr users or fediverse servers. At some point there will be defederation of the gateway and need for a moderated gateway. I’m worried about the design which only has a single gateway, as a single point of control. Expecially since it’s one of the most valuable nostr services, at least for me, super useful.
I realize this is a tricky problem, but I’m excited that nostr:npub15ph30la3n069s4l9ja9v3wcmaftcrztcdm4ytrjy800cc02n80fsqvkw0q is getting funding to work on building it out. Let’s just find a way to run multiple gateways just like we have multiple nostr clients and multiple relays.
