Just about every week at work now, I am asked to use AI to solve some new pressing problem. And I ignore them.

We can't afford to hire a product team. Crank out stories with ChatGPT.

The stories suck and they can't be estimated. Get an estimate out of ChatGPT.

There's some new skunkworks project to turn the site into a giant AI chatbot. The juniors are using Loveable.

I ignore it. I regularly ask them, if they are using a product that produces mathematically average output, how do they intend to be exceptional? Managers, being average people, balk, as if to suggest being average is NOT the same as being inadequate.

People tell me they are afraid of being fired every day. Replaced by an LLM. They furiously cling to the architect of their obsolescence.

I can do anything I want, because I am unafraid of being fired. Every day is just another rack stuffed in the mattress.
