We've had our purple martin houses up for a couple seasons, but still no martins. We did see a couple martins scouting the houses, but no nesting. Do yall have any luck with attracting them? #grownostr #birds

Built a different style of house for them. I have yet to even see one. My wife is the bird nerd but I’m coming around!
Shame on me for not being able to help. But you just motivated me to install the Martin house I assembled 2 years ago. Thank you!!!!
Well then i'm glad i posted this.
We don’t have Purple Martins, but we do have barn swallows. Very similar bird in the Martin family. Often confused with purple martins because they both soar around eating bugs.
Ours were scared off by a raccoon family last year but I am glad to report that the birds are back in full force this year.
Looking at your picture, is there a way to orient the houses so the bulbous portion is down? Purple Martins nest in hollowed out gourds in nature. Most of the style we have around here hang down like gourds. Just a thought.
Thanks for the idea, i'll ask my husband if the units can be hung differently. We do see quite a few barn swallows though.
