The great lakes are more like inland oceans and they get nasty winter storms near Duluth the shoreline is far rockier and mountainous and less sandy.

yeah i've done some reading on the great lakes and when you really make comparisons to regular lakes it's fucking insane how huge they are. i wanna see lake superior one day before i die.
