There is this weird subculture in Los Angeles of SaaS and app startups that raise money then sometimes blatently overinflate usage numbers. Using Chinese click-farms and paid celebrities to legitimize their scammy apps. If anyone calls them out by name they sick their legal team on them. This is less tech startups and more racketeering. Even with investors there is a thin line between over promising and fraudulent behavior.
