How so? Isn’t this like saying bitcoin nodes themselves should be distributed/decentralized?

Sure, but if nodes themselves can create their own rules, it might be beneficial to have multiple nodes agree on the same set of rules
I guess, but if you don’t like the rules of one you can leave for another, or even make your own. I see what you’re saying though.
