Im in favour of an infrastructure fund, based on donations. It would pay say 90% of relay infrastructure, based on invoices for usage, similar to an open collective. Would require 1-2 people to responsibly manage it. I think that would help nostr infrastructure handle the current load and pave a cow path towards further scaling.
The issue we see with paid relays is it is not new user friendly. One time paid relays are not long term sustainable. So would have to charge monthly, quarterly, or yearly. We don't see this as sustainable either. We have applied for grants but gotten crickets so far. Over the next few days we'll be announcing our first corporate sponsor. Who will provide donated dedicated servers to the network. The current plan is to keep Relayable a nonprofit. Also will be posting a transparency report next week. - nostr:npub1y3uh89v5a4vq92t8q0j6su94zhvcdxpywjn3l6hpsr5welarqtrqj7yzhd

This is something similar to what trying to do with nostr:npub16fcy8ynknssdv7s487nh4p2h4vr3aun64lpfea45d7h4sts9jheqevshgh by keeping it a nonprofit. Then can have board and transparency not driven by revenue. 🤙
