I feel you.

Last year my wife wanted a smart watch.

I told her that these were basically spying devices, she ignored me 😂 and bought a cheap unbranded one.

After installing the companion app she was appalled with the amount of permissions necessary to use it, and ended up never using the watch (I guess we can count that as a win)

I then proceeded to search for privacy preserving open source alternatives and was super disappointed with the results.
