Can it run Graphene OS

Got it, so a pixel, then what? There's lots of good gens there from 5+

They all taste the same to me.

How big it is compared to a „banana for scale“

Gotta be pixel to flash Grapheneos, then phone size, gotta be small, then battery. Pixel 5 is peak smartphone.

I just sold a 6 and 7 used ... But I kept my 5, iykyk

What is so appealing w 5?

What are the tradeoffs for switching to GrapheneOS?

I use grapheneos mainly bc I don't want Google on my phone, I don't see many tradeoffs, i don't have Google play store but have others stores or just install the apk. But you can run Google sandboxed and everything will run fine. For my banking app I did that, I created a secondary user profile with Google sandbox and my banking app there, and I switch to that profile when I want to use my banking app, when I'm done I switch back to my main profile.

Amazing setup! Welcome aboard!!

Lineage is easier to use iny humble opinion

I use lineagei OS on Pixel 4a..very happy with it.
