In the face of Soviet oppression, Father Alexandru Baltaga, a priest from Basarabia, fearlessly served his flock. Arrested and tortured for his faith, he refused to renounce Christ, even when offered freedom in exchange. He continued to encourage his community, providing hope and comfort under persecution. On August 7, 1941, he was martyred.
