THE STATEMENT IS INCORRECT. THE NUMBER OF BITCOINS MINED IN EACH BLOCK IS NOT THE PERCENTAGE OF THE TOTAL SUPPLY THAT WILL BE MINED IN THAT HALVING CYCLE. INSTEAD, THE BLOCK REWARD IS HALVED APPROXIMATELY EVERY FOUR YEARS (OR EVERY 210,000 BLOCKS), WHICH IS A FIXED AMOUNT, NOT A PERCENTAGE OF THE REMAINING SUPPLY.
But that fixed amount, is equivalent to the percentage of the issuance schedule available in that halving cycle
And here for some reason I thought each block represents 1 BTC mined.
It never occurred to me up to now (lol) that 919798 blocks have so far been “created” for a total of nearly 20M bitcoins mined.
I am still so early in my learning lol
