I work in IT which is the reason my house has:

- mechanical windows

- mechanical door locks

- no Alexa/HomeKit/Google

- no Internet connected thermostats, lamps, or whatnots

- wall switches for lights

But:

- self hosting

- optional open source based smart home

Exactly, Home Assistant running stable without any issues for years. And so much extensions and supported tools and devices. 🤩
