Giorgio Morandi for my #grownostr #randomsaves effort

Don’t know why but I really like this Italian artist. I think he lived with his mum until he died. Have to check that one. But he would just paint the same few vases and bowls and boxes over and over. In the same muted colours. I don’t think he had much of a name as an artist while alive.

But he kept at it.

Why?

Don’t know. But I’ve always admired the humility and perseverance to keep going even when no one cares. He must have been obsessed with the paintiness of paint. For some reason I imagine he had a difficult, boring life so found comfort in what he could control, paint on his canvas
