yup, mint is basically the comfy starter-pack — feels almost like win7, things just work, flatpak + snaps ready. but just like you said, any distro can be stripped and hardened. i just point privacy refugees to mint 'cause they don't freak out at the UI and still get FULL root + no telemetry approval popups. anyone escaping the big tech cage gets my thumbs-up ✊
