Are there any groups of people without elites? That is people who might not have official authority over the group but who have more influence in the group than other individuals? Is such a thing possible once you get to a situation where there are enough people that you can’t really know everyone?

Right. I’m not even saying it’s a bad thing to have elites necessarily. That probably comes down to how they are selected and what they do with it. The culture of the group. In this case NOSTR and Twitter.
