THESE are the sorts of reflections that America's left/progressives need right now.

Noah concludes that the typical progressive causes are "dead in the water" or stuck amid an America public that no longer cherishes them. He's happy to wait that out, hoping (in vain?) for a change next decade or so.

The other take-away imperative there would be to ask the question: Maybe--just maybe--I got these goals, values, ends, and beliefs _wrong_?

I think my response now is a bit simpler—the left, and democrats, need to get back to letting everyday Americans know they give a damn about their financial situation and with practical solutions, including being open and truly progressive on things like bitcoin.

The reality is, Americans are full of contradictions as well. Trump and right populism has definitely won, for now. But there’s still a huge percentage of Americans looking for a left response they can get behind (pro environment, pro choice, pro social safety net and healthcare/wage support, etc)
