Had dinner last night with an old friend. He was a self-proclaimed Bitcoin Maximalist a few years ago.
I think someone must have hurt his feelings on Twitter because he went on and on about how dumb Bitcoin Maximalists are and how we suck at marketing and how Bitcoin isn’t “cool” like Ethereum. He believes that Bitcoiners have shunned “leftist types” and that those people are the ones who are the talented culture shapers/artists/etc. I explained to him how in the US at least, this is patently false from what I can see. The woke mob have basically become the modern day church lady shaking their fingers at anyone who doesn’t fall in line with their ideology.
Ironically, after shitting on Bitcoin and Bitcoiners for an hour, at the end of dinner he admitted that he only holds Bitcoin and it is his savings account. Actions speak louder than words.
You know we are winning when people who hate the Bitcoin “culture” (which is clearly not homogeneous in-spite of some trying to paint it as such) are still holding Bitcoin as their tool for saving for the future.
Bitcoin is money for adversaries.
