I've been running a little experiment. I'm trying to learn how to produce my own feminized seeds. Unlocking this skill will allow me to keep my favorite cultivars around indefinitely instead of always gambling on cuttings to root.

This is my test subject. I split her main branch into 2 and sprayed 1 to make it produce male flowers. So far so good. Just waiting to see if she's producing seeds 🤞

Not worth it because of the silver needed? I agree. It's not worth tarnishing .999 pure silver. I actually used some old USD silver dollars that are 90% silver. Seems like it may have worked 🤷♂️
Not worth the health risk and environmental damage
Yeah. You definitely have to be extremely careful. I used gloves with every step. You don't want to get any colloidal silver on yourself. You also have to discard the plant after harvesting the seeds. You can't use any part of the plant for consumption. It must be disposed.
Even breathing it in. Offgasing and literally spraying it
Good point! I hadn't considered that. Luckily, I sprayed outside. The risk of inhalation is probably minimal but not 0%. I'll be sure to wear a mask that can catch colloidal silver particles in the future.
All things considered, this technique should be used cautiously, though colloidal silver is low-to-moderately toxic (some people even consume it for "health"), it should be treated as a toxin.
