the nostr protocol has problems like this also... lists, for example, these things can get enormous and have a problem of sometimes disappearing because of funny relay and client implementations - it's my view that the solution there would be to add a CRDT type for list edits, and presumably ones that support it will also have caching so the bandwidth problem is solved for users who care and client devs who care

the same will happen eventually with email

email is a dead end, it is controlled by like 5 companies now and a defcon 1 data leak is just a matter of time, and a secure, encrypted alternative will become desirable to users

most companies already have a presence on X that they use for customer support, it is not a hard task if enough users for a service are on nostr and getting these companies to pick it up

yep and people talked about it before and nothing changed but yes it is possible but remote

for example companies that are on X or FB only i won't interact with because i do not want to be on either of those platforms

I think Nostr does have a chance but it's remote

it's only 18 months since this started... it took 40 years from email's inception in the mid 60s until wide adoption

it will just take time for some places to catch on, where other places will get it early

the other thing is there's really only technical reasons why you can't have a nostr/email bridge anyhow, someone just has to build it, and wedge it into the crack

could happen

I still think it won't but that doesn't mean i am against not using email

there was talk like this in the 1990s and 2000s, nothing happened

if it happens then great! and by me and you using Nostr we are aiming in that direction
