There are three pillars of effective public discourse.
LOGOS: appeal to logic and reason
ETHOS: appeal to ethics and morality
PATHOS: appeal to emotion and sentiment
The foundation of Western society has become so unstable that two of those pillars have collapsed and the only the last remaining pillar, PATHOS, is holding up the ceiling.
Quite literally pathetic.
