Yep. But I don't really view that as "winning" in the context of large-scale conflicts. Wars are pricey. If you don't end up dying, your bank acounts sure will in the long run.
Well, if you gain valuable resources or arable land or water/mining rights, or whatever, you could end up much wealthier.
Land isn't fungible, like money is, so gaining particular pieces of land can be worth fighting for, if it's an investment that might lead to more money (or security, which can lead to more money), later.
Those are good pointsπ. Can't really argue with that.
