I'm really excited for this next era, but also scared what impacts these advancements will have on our world. I will give this a read. Thanks for sharing.

tl;dr AI specifically trained to research and create new AI will cause exponential growth, leading us to either inhabit Mars by 2030 or be exterminated by insect-sized drones. Also, China.

Mars is a sinkhole.

So was North America for Europeans, until they levelled up their ISRU and started living off local resources.

A lot of colonies didn't make it.

Neither of these things are going to happen

I read it all and it's a wild read. Could things really accelerate that fast? Maybe? I guess anything is possible. I'll believe it once we start using AI to do AI research as the norm.

I saw an initial rebuttal which was equally fascinating. Agree with the recommendation!

Armies of agent2 and agent3 putting agent4's on a tight leash because humans have no way of directly controlling it or even assessing its loyalty is a wild scene from a sci-fi movie

That's quite a read. Scanned through it and will definitely need to re-read. 🧡✨👍

Would be interesting how long it took to create this page with graphics, pdf and all. Looks amazing at first sight, the way it is presented...

you had me until you referenced a futurist website article

Really fun/terrifying read. I’m not sure I buy all of it but it’s very compelling and certainly in the realm of possible.

It is called technology progress.

We all have to use it as a useful tool and not a weapon.

Even if some will use it as weapon we will have to use it as a shield.

It is human that are creating this, so it is up to us to make it the best way.

This is why I want to find a job in AI. But where do I start?

The conclusion I draw from this is that AI is a reflection of human values and knowledge and it can and will never surpass humanity as a whole. Its DNA is man-made and ultimately remains a product of human intelligence and creativity, albeit exponentially enhanced. Therefore, shouldn’t we turn our attention to our values to understand (and maybe correct) the direction in which AI is heading?
