Part of me wants to track how many hours I am spending on building each of these #solar #meshtastic nodes, as that is very much part of the cost of producing them.
A bigger part of me doesn't want to know because it'll be depressingly expensive, even at minimum wage.
You'll have to quantify personal gratification and ideological harmony to offset the negatives of cost in time and money
I guess if we can put a dollar amount on 4 hours of a Sunday, we can put a dollar amount to those too. 😝

What are the main steps in making one? And how long does each take 🙀
There are so many little details.
For example, I spent a couple hours cutting and splicing USB cables to 2-pin JST 1.5mm connectors. It's one of the steps the is largely invisible (even to me) until it's suddenly very obvious that you don't have a way to conmect the solar panel to the node.
I was going to poat it on a hacker project site, but they never got back to me. 🫤
Yeah splicing cables is really tedious and annoying. But doing it well does make for better success.
Maybe you can figure out a way to make it off the shelf?
